Kansas City lottery winner turned to Google for advice after striking it rich
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Curiosity helps a Missouri man scratch it rich, but Google had to tell him how to cash in.
The Missouri Lottery said a man bought a scratchers ticket at the QuikTrip near NW 96th Street and North Oak Trafficway.
The decision to stop and buy the ticket turned out to be a lucky one.
“I was visiting a friend, and I just stopped in there and decided to buy a ticket. I’d seen that one before and just decided to finally play it,” the winner said according to a news release from the Missouri Lottery.
After scratching the ticket he discovered it was worth $4 million.
“I was just like, ‘This isn’t real. This isn’t real,” he said. “I pulled out my phone and started Googling what I should do next!”
He called his financial advisor and then claimed the millions at the Missouri Lottery’s Kansas City regional office.
It turns out that Clay County is a pretty lucky place to be. The Missouri Lottery said people in that county won more than $29.6 million in Missouri Lottery prizes in 2024.
