Hollywood icon Jean Claude Van Damme faces criminal charges connected to sex trafficking in Romania

Hollywood star Jean-Claude Van Damme was reportedly charged in a criminal complaint after prosecutors claim he had sex with five women, knowing they were being sex trafficked.

The actor is accused of having sexual relations with five Romanian women "who were in a state of vulnerability, with the suspicion that they were exploited within the meaning of Article 182 of the Criminal Code," lawyer Adrian Cuculis, who represents one of the women, told Romanian CNN affiliate, Antena 3. His quotes are translated from Romanian.

The Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) reportedly filed a criminal complaint against Jean. The entertainer allegedly met with several people who are also under investigation for sex trafficking crimes. The alleged incident reportedly happened in Cannes, France, meaning the French government reportedly has to authorize criminal proceedings.

Cuculis added, "We are discussing an outrageous case that is not new for the Prosecutor's Offices in Romania. From the statements given in a case of trafficking in minors and human trafficking that started with the investigations since 2020, one of the victims and the same witness who referred to Kasta Morely and a so-called guru from Iași, who allegedly sexually abused dozens of minors, even when they were presented as photo models.

"Well, one of them told prosecutors in Iași how at a certain point in Cannes, at an event organized by Jean-Claude Van Damme, several Romanians who are currently being investigated for forming a criminal group and pimping, allegedly offered Jean-Claude Van Damme five Romanian women, photo models in Romania, for him to have sexual relations with. Jean is best known for his martial arts skills in his action-packed hit films. However, in recent years, his latest business venture comes with a different kind of kick.

Often referred to as the Muscles from Brussels, Jean shared in 2023 how he left Hollywood behind after "years of living the life."
