An urgent missing persons appeal has been launched by Gardai after a teenage girl went missing from her home in Co Down this week.
Maria Silaieva, who is 17 years old, was reported missing on Friday morning, April 18, by her family.
Gardai are now working with officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) to try to trace Maria's whereabouts as concern grows for her wellbeing.
Authorities believe that Maria attended an event in Louth on Thursday and could now be in Dublin. Investigators have now issued a full description of Maria's appearance in the hope that someone comes forward to assist the missing persons case.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told The Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are assisting the Police Service of Northern Ireland in seeking the public's assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 17-year-old Maria Silaieva who is reported as missing from her home in Dromore, Co. Down since Friday morning, 18th April 2025.
"Maria attended an event in Dundalk, Co. Louth on Thursday, 17th April and is now believed to be in the Dublin area.
"Maria is described as being approximately 5 feet 4 inches in height with a slim build, long brown hair and greenish brown eyes.
"Gardaí, our colleagues in the PSNI and Maria's family are concerned for her wellbeing.
"Anyone with any information on Maria’s whereabouts is asked to contact Ballymun Garda Station on 01 666 4400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
