Dr Pimple Popper fears she 'created a monster' as new Lifetime show premieres
Dr Pimple Popper's new show, Dr Pimple Popper: Breaking Out, will be debuting on Lifetime this evening and Dr Sandra Lee has given a teaser about what fans can expect
Dr Pimple Popper joked she has "created a monster" ahead of her new show, Dr Pimple Popper: Breaking Out, airing on Lifetime.
Dr Sandra Lee will be back on our screens tonight with her new program and she's spoken to The Mirror US about what fans can expect. She teased there will be "some really big" pops in "unsavory and embarrassing places" on the show.
The first season will feature 20 episodes, with Dr Pimple Popper meeting with at least three patients per episode. Speaking about her work, she told us, "Sometimes I feel like I created a monster. Like, I'm a regular dermatologist like everybody else and suddenly people are coming from different states and around the world to see me."
Despite the sometimes embarrassing aspects of her job, Dr Lee, who is the founder of award winning SLMD Skincare, admitted she feels "very lucky" to be able to do what she does. She explained, "There's so many things I learned from the show. Like people with psoriasis, they have so much scale and shed that the wife would come in quietly and not tell the husband who has psoriasis and sweep up the skin from the floor in the bathroom."
She added, "Things like that that, you think about. It really hits home when somebody really can't leave their house because of the way that they look and becomes a hermit. So to see that and then to see the other side where they where it changes their life, I just feel lucky that I get to see it."
In Dr Pimple Popper: Breaking Out, the TV star will treat a lot of different conditions, including Nevus of Ota and psoriasis. Viewers can expect to see a lot of pops and even some bumps being mistaken for other body parts "everybody would giggle about," according to Dr Lee.
Speaking about one particular patient, Dr Lee said, "There's a woman who has a Nevus of Ota, which is a birthmark that grazes your whole face. It looks like you have a black eye all the time."
She told us, "She feels embarrassed because she feels like when she's with her husband, people are judging him, like, 'Oh, you gave her this black eye.' Can you imagine your whole life?"
Dr Lee was able to help the patient and admitted it's "very heartwarming" to make a positive impact in someone's life.
Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out premieres April 21 at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
