Manipur amass 13 medals at East Zone Athletic Meet

Imphal, September 15 2019: State athletic team have so far collected 13 medals including 3 gold, 2 silver and 8 bronze medals at the 31st East Zone Junior Athletic Championship 2019 which being organised in Ranchi since September 14 under the aegis of Athletic Federation of India.

Naocha earned Manipur a gold medal in the 3000 m walking race for U-16 girls with a time of 17 minutes 50.63 seconds while Sahida bagged the other gold medal in the 5000 m walking race event with a best time of 25:30.02 in the U-18 girls competition wherein A Ranisa finished with a bronze by taking 27:42.70 .

The third gold medal was won by Kh Manja in the 3000 m walking race for U-18 boys where he took 9 minutes 11.19 seconds to surge home.

N Sidubushan on the other hand, bagged a silver medal in the 100 m race with a time of 11.30 seconds while N William recorded 51 minutes 26 .12 seconds to win the 10,000 m walking race silver finishing ahead of Manipur's Md Hafijur Rahaman who took 51:26.38 for the bronze medal.

Ch Chingkheinganba won Manipur another bronze medal finishing third in the U-20 boys' 400 m event with a time of 51.78 seconds before A Chaoba finished third by taking 1:00:17.72 to win a bronze medal in the 10,000 m walking race for the same age group.
