Babita, Sanjana dazzle as Manipur kick off Junior Women's NFC with 14-0 demolition of Uttarakhand

Imphal, June 22 2022: Oinam Babita hit a hattrick and Moibungkhongbam Sanjana Chanu netted four goals as Manipur girls decimated Uttarakhand by 14-0 goals in the Hero Junior (U-17) Women's National Football Championship Group A opener at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium,Guwahati today.

Manipur girls ran riot against the defence line of Uttarakhand in search of gap from the word go and entered into the break with a comfortable 4-0 lead as Oinam Babita scored a hattrick (3', 31', 36') with the first goal coming up early in the third minute and with Ipham Romina Begum scoring one minute into the added time of the first half (45+1') .

Manipur girls further intensified their campaign after the restart and scored at will as Uttarakhand defence were left in tatters with Moibungkhongbam Sanjana (51', 58', 65', 79') taking the centrestage.

Usham Luxmi Devi (52'), Toijam Thoibisana (64'), Thingbaijam Sanjita (73'), Khumukcham Bhumika (75', 90'), Kimte Langel (80') also were on target today to help Manipur secure the emphatic win.

Manipur will face Andhra Pradesh in the next match on June 24 at 9 am.

The day also saw Jharkhand crush Andhra Pradesh 11-0 at the same stadium courtesy a double hat-trick from Khusboo Hessa (25', 28', 46', 48', 61', 64').Kunti Hessa also scored twice (52', 66') as Birasmuni Dhanwar (41'), Priya Hembrom (50') and Madhumita Hansda (85') netted a goal apiece.
