Clasping the coastline of the immaculate white beaches and sky-blue waters of the Indian Ocean, the exclusive Billionaire Resort and Retreat, previously open for the elite only, is set to begin accepting members of the public.

The Resort has played host to some of the world's top celebrities like supermodel Naomi Campbell

According to the travel magazine Fodors, members of the public will be welcomed into the Malindi-based resort which stayed private for over two decades.

The publication indicated that the lavish hotel owned by Italian billionaire and former Formula One boss, Flavio Briatore, transitioned from a hotel for the elite to a resort for the public.

Booking costs vary depending on peak and off-peak seasons with some villas going for between Ksh30,000 and Ksh60,000.

“We have essentially opened up the facility to the general public to promote the touristic potential of Malindi for people from all corners of the globe.

"They can come and enjoy its beautiful weather, lovely beaches, and inspiring adventure like the marine life near the resort,” a manager at the resort stated.

Flavio Briatore loves handling his hospitality ventures with greater finesse and the name he chose for the Malindi resort epitomises this spirit.

The Malindi resort joins his other chef-d'oeuvre among them the Billionaire Dubai, whose famous patrons include celebrities such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather.

Hollywood stars, Will and Jaden Smith have also performed at the resort in the past.

Kenya's tourism industry, the second-largest source of foreign exchange earnings after agriculture, was projected to fully pick up in 2022-2023 after being affected by the pandemic.

The World Bank indicated that Kenya’s economy in 2021-22 would grow by 4.5% as industries such as farming and tourism recover from the pandemic.
